ASCLS - Idaho   Focus Spotlight On continued from page 4

In 2002, I became president elect of IDSCLS. I served as president of IDSCLS in 2003 and as Past-President in 2004. In 2003, I also was appointed Idaho's IMSS Coordinating Committee Member. I served on the Coordinating Committee for the past five years, and last year chaired the Intermountain States Seminar. I have also served from 2003 to present as Coordinating Committee Secretary and was IMSS Coordinating Committee Member of the year in 2007.
Serving on the IMSS Coordinating Committee and chairing the seminar was a very rewarding experience for me. I now know medical technologists, vendors, supervisors and even CAP officials from all over the country. Since the position involves regional leadership, you become very familiar with leaders in the society from all over the region. The seminar essentially runs itself, the procedure manuals are very detailed, so the general chair position really involves coordinating every one else and making sure that there are no bad glitches. Since I'm sort of a shy person, this has been very good for me to be forced into a more active role, and to have to deal with people. I think we pulled off a very successful convention, making about $2500 for each of the five states and the Coordinating Committee and region, and providing excellent continuing education for all of the participants.
